During this difficult time when our young men and women are
abroad in a hostile land it is imperative that we show them our
support. You can do something as simple as having a yellow
ribbon on your car or a wreath on you door. Those of us who are
physically able can give blood or volunteer at the Red Cross or
at a Veteran's Agency.
If you know a military family do something personal like giving the
waiting family your friendship. Perhaps they do not have computer
access, offer them a means of contacting their love one.
The number ONE request at Walter Reed hospital is phone cards.
The government doesn't pay long distance phone charges and
these wounded soldiers are rationing their calls home.
Many will be there throughout the holidays.
Really support our troops --Send phone cards of any amount to:
Medical Family Assistance Center
Walter Reed Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001
They say they need an "endless" supply of these -- any amount
even $5 is greatly appreciated.
Wal-Mart has good prices on AT&T cards, Sams Club is even
better, if you are a member. I pay less than three cents per
minute there.
The DOD has numerous web sites that list ways to support the troops
and their families. Above all let us offer them our prayers.
